A qualitative survey explores the concept of ownership in AI-assisted tasks, finding that participants retain ownership when they actively collaborate with AI, but lose it when they merely approve suggestions. The study suggests that loss of personal voice and lack of comprehension of output erode ownership, and proposes research directions to promote authorship in AI development.
